How to make a 3D printed QR code in 3 steps

    1. 1

      Paste your link

Your restaurant menu, your Google review page, your Instagram, your website or your wifi details. The code is generated instantly.

    2. 2

      Customize the design

Pick the dot style, the colors and an emoji or your logo in the center. Then choose the object —stand, keychain, plaque, coaster, magnet or card— and add your text.

    3. 3

      Download and print

Download the two-color 3MF and open it in your slicer: the base and the QR code come as separate parts with their colors. PNG, SVG and STL are available too.

How to make a QR code keychain that actually scans

Link length decides the size. A keychain has little room, so every module should be at least 1.5 mm. With a short link (your site, your Instagram) a 35–45 mm code is usually enough. For long links use a URL shortener: less data = bigger modules = more reliable scans.

Thickness and ring. The keychain is generated with a 3 mm base and a tab with a 5.5 mm hole, enough for standard split rings and small carabiners. A 1–1.2 mm relief is the sweet spot: you can feel it and it doesn't trap dirt.

Ideas that work. Wedding favors linking to the photo album, event keychains with the conference site, store merch linking to your catalog, or contact tags that never get lost.

Print it flat. It prints in minutes with no supports. On a single extruder, add a filament change at the layer where the relief starts.

    Frequently asked questions

What size should a QR code keychain be?

35 to 50 mm of code for short links. The tool shows each module's size live and warns you if it drops below 1.5 mm.

Can I add a name to the keychain?

Yes, type a short text and, optionally, an emoji. They print raised in the same color as the code.

    Which filament should I use?

PLA or PETG both work. For reliable scanning, use a light base (white, beige, yellow) and a dark code (black, navy).

Can I sell the keychains I print?

Yes. The files you generate are yours, including for commercial use.
