How to make a 3D printed QR code in 3 steps

    1. 1

      Paste your link

Your restaurant menu, your Google review page, your Instagram, your website or your wifi details. The code is generated instantly.

    2. 2

      Customize the design

Pick the dot style, the colors and an emoji or your logo in the center. Then choose the object —stand, keychain, plaque, coaster, magnet or card— and add your text.

    3. 3

      Download and print

Download the two-color 3MF and open it in your slicer: the base and the QR code come as separate parts with their colors. PNG, SVG and STL are available too.

Tips so your 3D printed QR code scans on the first try

Contrast first. A QR code is read by the difference in light between the modules and the background. The most reliable combo is a light base (white, beige, yellow) with a dark relief (black, navy, brown). Two similar filaments —gray and silver, red and orange— make a pretty code that phones can't read. The tool computes contrast for you and warns you.

Every module at least 1.5 mm. The printer nozzle (usually 0.4 mm) rounds corners. If the code's modules are too small, they blur. The longer the link, the more modules the code has, so for a 3D printed QR code keychain use short links or a URL shortener.

Why 3MF and not STL. STL only stores the shape. 3MF stores the shape plus the color of each part, so in Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer or Cura you already see the base and the code as two parts, each with its own filament. With a single extruder, add a filament-change pause at the layer where the relief starts.

No supports needed. The table stand's face is tilted upward, so the relief prints cleanly without support material. Keychain, plaque, coaster, magnet and card are flat and print lying down in minutes.

    Frequently asked questions

What is a 3MF file and why is it better than STL for a QR code?

3MF is the modern 3D printing format: it stores the geometry and also the color of each part. When you open it in Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer or Cura, the base and the raised QR code already show up as two separate parts, each ready for its own filament. STL doesn't store colors.

Can a 3D printed QR code be scanned with a phone?

Yes, as long as the two filaments contrast (a light base with a dark code is ideal) and each module of the code is at least 1.5 mm. The tool warns you in real time if contrast or size are not enough.

How do I print the QR code in two colors with a single-extruder printer?

Open the 3MF in your slicer and add a filament change (pause) at the layer where the relief starts. The printer stops, you swap the filament and it keeps printing the code in the second color.

    Which objects can I create?

Table stand, keychain, wall plaque, coaster, fridge magnet and business card. All of them carry your raised QR code and, if you want, a text and an emoji.

Can I make a QR code for my business or rental wifi?

Yes. Choose Wifi, type the network name and password, and anyone who scans the code connects automatically. Perfect for restaurants, cafés and vacation rentals.

Is my data uploaded to a server?

No. Everything is generated in your own browser: your link, your logo and the 3D files never leave your device.

    Does the QR code expire?

No. It's a static QR code: the link is written inside the code itself, so it works as long as the destination page exists. No subscriptions, no redirects.

Is it free, and can I use it for my business?

Yes, it's free with no sign-up. You can print and sell the objects you create with your own QR codes.
